A Stain on Mississippi's Soul: The Abandonment of the Vulnerable Amid Political Warfare
Federal SNAP food assistance for nearly 400,000 vulnerable Mississippians, including children and low-income families, is halting due to the government shutdown, and Governor Tate Reeves has not indicated he will use state funds to bridge the gap. It is an unconscionable moral failure that innocent children and the most vulnerable are being sacrificed as political pawns in a disgusting display of partisan warfare that betrays our fundamental duty to protect human dignity.
