California's Biomass Boondoggle: Ending a Costly and Destructive Subsidy Scandal
California's Public Utilities Commission is expected to end the costly BioMAT subsidy program that forces utilities to buy biomass energy at four times the average electricity cost, burdening ratepayers with exorbitant bills and harmful pollution. It is utterly disgraceful that taxpayer dollars have long subsidized this environmentally destructive scheme that disproportionately harms vulnerable communities while lining the pockets of an industry peddling dangerous falsehoods about wildfire safety and clean energy.
