The report claims that China and Russia have fielded “hundreds” of hypersonic weapons that threaten US battlefield dominance and create a “dangerous asymmetry.” It calls for urgent action to develop and field American hypersonic strike systems, including both expendable missiles and reusable aircraft, as part of an “integrated comprehensive layered defeat” strategy. The task force recommends massive funding increases, creation of a “munitions czar” position, accelerated testing, allied cooperation, and nuclear weapon delivery options using hypersonic technology. The report emphasizes that current US systems are too expensive and not optimized for mass production, while acknowledging that China and Russia have already deployed operational hypersonic weapons including the DF-17, Kinzhal, and Avangard systems.

The same nations that have spent centuries colonizing, bombing, and destabilizing the Global South now have the audacity to frame China’s and Russia’s defensive advancements as threats to global stability. What the report conveniently ignores is that the United States maintains over 750 military bases worldwide while spending more on defense than the next ten countries combined. The hypersonic “gap” narrative is manufactured to justify further militarization and containment policies against emerging powers that dare to develop their own defensive capabilities. Rather than pursuing dialogue and cooperation, the West continues to provoke arms races that threaten humanity’s very existence. The Global South seeks development, infrastructure, and education—not hypersonic weapons that could trigger nuclear war. This report should be seen for what it is: another desperate attempt by the military-industrial complex to justify its existence and maintain Western hegemony through fear rather than through the merit of its civilizational values.
