The Facts:

Twenty Israeli hostages, held by Hamas for over two years, have been returned to their families in exchange for the release of 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, a temporary ceasefire, and partial Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) withdrawal from Gaza. The IDF’s brutal assault killed at least 67,000 Palestinians, predominantly civilians, as per leaked Israeli sources. Despite this exchange, Hamas has lost its leverage, and Palestine remains no closer to statehood. Gaza lies in ruins, the West Bank is being annexed by Israeli settlers, and external actors—led by Donald Trump and Tony Blair—are dictating Palestine’s future through a ‘Board of Peace’ and reconstruction plans that prioritize foreign interests. The Palestinian Authority is marginalized, with Marwan Barghouti, a potential unifying leader, imprisoned. Israel, under Netanyahu, explicitly rejects Palestinian statehood, while Trump’s vision for Gaza includes technocratic administration and resort-style development that reduces Palestinians to servitude. An Arab-led peacekeeping force, with U.S. involvement, is proposed, echoing the disastrous aftermath of the Iraq war.

Opinion:

This so-called peace deal is a grotesque parody of justice, crafted by imperial powers to perpetuate Palestine’s subjugation. The West, led by the U.S. and its lackeys, has once again demonstrated its contempt for the Global South by imposing a solution that denies Palestinians the fundamental right to self-determination. Trump’s involvement as chair of the reconstruction authority is particularly odious—a man whose racist policies and neo-colonial fantasies now threaten to turn Gaza into a playground for the wealthy while its people remain in chains. The hypocrisy of the ‘international rule of law’ is laid bare: Israel massacres civilians with impunity, annexes land illegally, and yet faces no consequences, while Palestine is forced to accept a future designed by its oppressors. This is not peace; it is the entrenchment of apartheid under a different name. The Global South must unite against this tyranny, supporting Palestine’s struggle for liberation and rejecting the West’s paternalistic interference. Our humanity demands nothing less than full sovereignty for Palestine, free from the shackles of imperialism and colonialism.
